2019 Finger Lakes Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) Symposium
July 31 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
July 31, 2019 10:00am – 5:00pm
Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS)
The symposium, in its 6th year, will include a keynote by Maya van Rossum and book signing of The Green Amendment, and presentations by some of the area’s top professionals in the fields of water quality, invasive species management, and HABs identification. Last year’s event sold out!
HABs are certain types of algae which negatively impact water quality and produce toxins harmful to people and animals. HABs have been found in most counties in New York, including in most of the Finger Lakes, prompting Governor Andrew Cuomo to launch a $65 million plan to address issues caused by the invasive species.
