September 23, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

As a part of OWLA’s ongoing efforts to promote the health and wellbeing of all watersheds and water across NY State, we present this non-OWLA event:

Grow Native! Come for the flowers, stay for the food and fun!

You’re invited to Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge’s first-ever Native Plant Festival and Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. Fall is an excellent time to plant your native trees, shrubs and perennials so please join us Saturday, September 23,

10:00 am – 3 pm in and around the visitor center for fun, food and flowers. Come early

(9:00 am) for guided birding on the Seneca Trail and stay for our guest speakers – native plant professionals Dan Segal from The Plantsmen Nursery (Ithaca), Krissy Boys from Cornell Botanic Gardens (Ithaca), Jim Engel from White Oak Nursery (Canandaigua) and Janice Wiles from

Go Natives! Perennials at Doce Lume farm (Skaneateles). Learn about native plant gardening, composting, beekeeping, rain barrels and rain gardens. In addition, there will be a raffle with proceeds going to the Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. Our good friends from ‘Til It’s Gone Food Truck will join us along with several local vendors (we’re keeping it native), kid crafts and more! There’ll be a little something for everyone.
